What is the Bolero Rulebook?
The rulebook ensures that the terms and conditions attaching to the Bill of Lading (usually seen on the reverse of the bill) will also apply in the event that an eBL is issued. Furthermore, the International Group of P&I Clubs has confirmed coverage for owners who use an approved system. The Bolero System is approved by the International Group.
Title Registry explained
The Bolero Title Registry is a control and management system for documents of title that incorporates a database of information drawn from Instructions in Messages sent to Bolero in communications messages.
These communications messages contain data concerning Users’ rights and obligations in relation to Bolero Bill of Lading electronic documents. From the initial creation of the eBL by the Carrier, when it is first published to eventual ending of the eBL, the eBL is controlled by the Title Registry. The rights and obligations in relation to the Bolero Bill of Lading may change over the life of the bill.
The Title Registry keeps record of all parties that are involved in the eBL and external systems integrated to the Title Registry are updated with the data in the Bolero Bill of Lading by the issuance of Responses to Instructions it receives, and Notifications sent to other parties involved in the eBL based on their need to know. These details are sent to the Sender of the instruction in response messages and to other parties in notification messages if they have rights or obligations as a result of the title Registry instruction that Bolero has received.
